Wood House Increases Production with Digital Processes
Wood House in Tranås implemented Prosmart in March 2024. From manual working methods with Excel spreadsheets for production planning to digital, chain-linked processes, the company now has better control over production. The result? 10-15 percent higher productivity.
When Wood House implemented Prosmart, they did so with the humble understanding that they were facing a significant transformation. The company, with 15 employees, has historically operated on a paper-based system, and production planning consisted of four Excel spreadsheets.
Fredrik Gustafsson, CEO at Wood House, explains:
– We had a feeling and an impression that we were producing based on customer orders, but in connection with the implementation of Prosmart and with Christer’s (Thalin, consultant and trainer at Prosmart) help, we realized that this was not the case at all. We often produce for stock as well. By gaining a better understanding of the workflow, we have been able to become more precise in our planning, and now we have better control over what is produced and when, he says.
10-15% higher production and a saved half-time position
Even though the system is relatively new at Wood House, they have already seen concrete results. With Prosmart, the company has managed to increase production by 10-15%, with the system’s implementation into their work being essentially the only change.
However, it is primarily in production planning that the effects have been most noticeable. Moving from Excel spreadsheets to an integrated system has made production planning easier and saved a lot of time. How much?
In fact, it’s as much as an entire half-time position that has been saved.
– Our production planner previously spent all his time solely on production planning. Now he has a time saving of half his time, time that we have chosen to dedicate to strategic improvement work related to the system and our processes, says Fredrik.
Digital Workflows
To streamline production, Wood House has introduced iPads at each workstation. Employees can now report digitally in real-time, which provides a quicker overview and reduces the need for paperwork. Every step in the process becomes visible, and when an employee finishes their part, the next person can immediately see and continue the work – workstation by workstation.
Wood House has quickly made significant strides in its journey with Prosmart as its business system and is already seeing positive effects in daily operations. Moving forward, the work involves continuing to adapt and refine processes to ensure they form a stable foundation – to strengthen the company today and in the future.
